Cyclic Collection
Having Cyclic depression means it’s recursive rather like a clock. I wanted to do a series of work around the theme of recursion and remembered doing spin paintings from when I was a child. I really enjoyed making these when I was a child, and thought the spin of the painting was symbolic of my condition and life. The circular canvases were placed on a potter's wheel and spun whilst using various painting techniques to create the works. I tried to think about the range of emotions I felt through the different phases of a full mood cycle and express them through the paintings.
